Chris Hickey is the CEO of MicroLumix, founded two and a half years ago with a mission to prevent the spread of infectious diseases caused by contaminated public touchpoints such as door handles, restrooms, ATMs, and shopping carts. 80% of the most common infectious diseases are usually spread by hand. He got into the business in September 2019 when his wife lost a friend of hers who complained of headaches and was very sick. After several tests, she was diagnosed with a staph infection which she probably got from the public door handle. She died two days after the diagnosis.
The key to a company’s success
Find your passion and something that gets you out of bed in the morning. Being passionate about something will keep you motivated and dedicated to your business. It’s the enthusiasm that you have for your business that will take you all the way through. Even when things get tough, you’ll still be able to power through with a smile on your face because you love what you do. When things get tough, and trust me, they will. You need to have that passion for keeping your head above water. If not, it can be easy just to give up, and that’s not what we want. We want success!
Being passionate about your business doesn’t mean that it has to be something you would do for free. You can be passionate about a product or service because of how much value it adds to people’s lives. It’s essential for you to enjoy what you do, but it doesn’t necessarily mean that it has to be something that is just for fun.
It doesn’t matter if you’re passionate about selling paper clips or helping people find their dream home; if it’s something that makes both you and others happy, then go with it! Your passion will carry you through all the ups and downs of owning a business, so make sure that whatever it is, you are truly passionate about it.
